Stolen - Electricity Earthing Cables
We are advised by the Electrical Safety Council that there has recently been a spate of metal thefts in the course of which thieves have targetted a section of the copper earthing conductor from external meter boxes. The conductor is covered in green and yellow sheathing (see photograph of the cables in a typical meter installation).
The integrity of the protective earthing conductor is absolutely vital for the protection of the public from electric shock and fire, and the theft is unlikely to be detected by householders until it is too late. Removing any section of the conductor may result in fuses and circuit breakers giving no protection if an earth fault occurs, creating a significant risk to life and property.
The small amount of copper in each earthing conductor has resulted in very large numbers of premises being targetted, and all scrap metal dealers are advised to be on the lookout for persons attempting to sell large quantities of short earthing cable offcuts, including short lengths of stripped cable, and to contact their local police force if they are suspicious.

Stolen road signs- Suffolk
Stolen From:Various roadside locations in Suffolk.
Circulated at the request of: Suffolk Constabulary
Goods taken from various roadside locations in the Mid-Suffolk area and to adjoining areas of Suffolk.
A very significant number of aluminium road signs of various sizes and designs removed from the roadside posts and temporary locations. In the main they are approx 3 mm aluminium sheet but vary in shape depending upon application.
It is anticipated that if they are offered to recyclers they will already have had their laminated reflective element removed possibly by burning. The remaining aluminium may show signs of charring or heat distortion.
Removal of these represents a significant danger to road-users.
