New dates: (11) 12-14 October 2020

Communication from BIR:

After due consideration of the current spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in many countries across the globe, BIR leadership has decided to postpone the upcoming World Recycling Convention in Istanbul and reschedule the event on (11) 12-14 October 2020, the time slot previously allocated to our October event. The Convention will take place at exactly the same venue, the Swissôtel The Bosphorus.

In the past days, we have talked to many of you and heard your thoughts, concerns and fears about the situation. The rapid spread of the virus and the global health concerns, the growing trend of travel restrictions imposed by countries, companies and airlines, and the overall recommendation to avoid mass gatherings has led us to take this difficult decision.

For the first time in the 72-year long history of BIR, one of our world recycling conventions will not take place as planned. We know how important our events are for our members’ businesses, and therefore this decision was not taken lightly. But when we cannot fully guarantee the wellbeing of our members, exhibitors and staff, it is the right decision to make. We firmly believe that a postponement is the best solution.

If you have already registered, your registration remains valid for the October event. If you cannot make it on the suggested new dates, don’t worry — we have a cancellation policy in place. For this, and many more questions you might have, you can find more information here.

We will now work hard to make Istanbul in October a very successful event that will fulfil all your expectations.

Yours sincerely

Tom Bird
BIR President
