On behalf of CIWM

CIWM is calling for all those working in the UK resources and waste industry to take part in a survey designed to help better understand the current levels of EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) in the sector.

The survey, which follows the establishment of the CIWM’s (EDI) Working Group earlier this year, will play a key role in informing CIWM’s EDI strategy which aims to ensure the sector becomes a more equal, inclusive and diverse place in which to work.

The survey is open to anyone working in the UK waste and recycling sector and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Any information provided will be completely anonymous and no personally identifiable information will be included when the results are published early next year.

Encouraging people to participate, CIWM CEO, Sarah Poulter, said: “One of the biggest challenges we face as we progress this work is a lack of reliable and readily available information about the current demographic make-up of the resources and waste sector workforce. The results of this survey will play a crucial role in enabling us to determine our ‘starting point’, measure our progress, and identify what success looks like.”

CIWM will be openly sharing reports on the results from the survey via its website and social media so that its findings can be used as a resource for the whole sector. It will also be used by the CIWM EDI Working Group to inform the work to develop its strategy which will be published in 2022.
