At the BMRA, we are supporting the Government’s to achieve its 2050 net-zero goal.

That’s why yesterday on the 19th October, Cameron Leitch,Policy and Public Affairs Executive and BMRA's secretariat lead on the Carbon Action Committee visited the London Climate Technology show at Kensington, Olympia.

With speeches from the Environment Agency’s Sir James Bevan and the Kosovan Minister for Environment, Liburn Aliu, it was action-packed with high-profile speakers discussing the transition to net zero.

For the BMRA it was an opportunity to talk to a plethora of environmental specialists to gather crucial advice and information to feed into our carbon calculator tool which will go live in 2023 and allow members to understand their scope 1 and 2 emissions. The BMRA also spoke to a number of carbon credit accreditation companies, some of which we may look to partner with in the near future to give our member’s a credible, recognised outlet for obtaining carbon credits.

We also spoke with the team at Volvo to discuss their nascent electric machinery for the waste sector which ranges from material handlers to heavy goods vehicles. Currently however, the technology is not quite there yet to be used by members.

The BMRA will continue to be proactive in attending and promoting any important sustainability-related events through our media channels to ensure all members are sighted on events that they may wish to attend that can help accelerate their net-zero journeys.
