WISH has released new guidance on machinery safety in waste and recycling as contact with dangerous machinery is one of the top three causes of fatal injuries in the sector.

Following this HSE has announced that as it regards waste and recycling as a ‘high risk sector’ because of the unacceptable number of fatal and serious injuries over the years, it will be carrying out a programme of over 500 inspections across Great Britain focusing on these issues, starting in October through to March 2023.

In addition, WISH is holding a Health and Safety Worker Engagement and Leadership in Waste & Recycling conference on Thursday 27th October 2022.
