The BMRA has reappointed Susie Burrage as its President for another two years. Susie, who is the managing director of Chesham-based Recycled Products Ltd, said: “It is an honour and a privilege to be asked to serve another term as President of the BMRA. I have enjoyed every moment of my previous term, particularly meeting the members from all across the UK, attending meetings in the Houses of Parliament and representing us worldwide. I will continue to help the Association grow and develop new relationships with key stakeholders. I am really looking forward to the next two years.”

BMRA recently hosted some past Presidents at its headquarters in Huntingdon. Susie unveiled the new Presidents plaques which list all the Presidents of the associations and federations since 1920, who came together in 2001 to form the BMRA. The plaques also include BMRA Directors General and the current CEO, Robert Fell.

Some of the past Presidents who attended included; Robert Cooper (1984-1986), formerly of the Cooper Group later becoming European Metals Recycling (EMR), David Yendoll (1995-1996), formerly of Philip Metals and Tony Dodds (1994-1995) of S.Sackers.

There were also current board members and former presidents, Shane Mellor (2014-2016) of Mellor Metals (celebrating 41 years of scrap on the day), and Graham Davy (2012-2014) of Intelligent Lifecycle Solutions.

As well as being the first female President of the BMRA in 100 years of scrap metal associations and federations, Susie is also Treasurer of the European Recycling Industries Confederation (EuRIC) and President of its European Metal Trade and Recycling Branch, based in Brussels.  In addition, she was recently appointed as UK Ambassador for the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), a global recycling industry association.
