On behalf of HM Treasury

HM Treasury welcomes comments on existing policy, or suggestions for new policy. In order to inform policy development for the Budget, your representation should contain policy suggestions for the upcoming fiscal event and explain the policy rationale, costs, benefits and deliverability of proposals. It should also be evidence based, providing clear arguments on how it contributes to the aims of the Statement.

You may wish to consider:

  • likely effectiveness and value for money
  • revenue implications for the Exchequer
  • how it supports growth
  • wider macroeconomic implications (for example, for economic stability, and supporting employment)
  • sectoral impacts
  • distributional impacts
  • locational impacts
  • administrative and compliance costs and issues
  • legislative and operational requirements
  • environmental impact

HM Treasury will not consider representations which are not practicable and/or that violate HM Treasury’s legal obligations, including but not limited to obligations on subsidy control, human rights and equalities.

The representations portal can be accessed by clicking here.

BMRA will be responding to Spring Budget representations in due course. As such, we strongly encourage you to participate in this process either by sending thoughts and views to assist BMRA in the construction of its response; or by submitting your own response.

Comments can be sent to BMRA via email to [email protected].

Please note the deadline for representations to be made is 5pm 24 January 2024.
