The deadline for final comments on the waste treatment BREF document has now passed.

After careful assessment of the 1,100-page document, neither BMRA nor the UK submitted any comments on the final draft. However, once any comments made by other Technical Working Group (TWG) representatives have been assessed, the final draft will be submitted to the Article 13 Forum. It will be asked to give its formal opinion on the document. This is tentatively expected to take place in October 2017. Assuming the Article 13 forum supports the document, the Article 75 forum will formally adopt the document and it will be published. This is expected to be in early 2018.

BMRA’s involvement with the TWG has now all-but-concluded. Therefore, our focus will be to assist affected members as they prepare for the changes that IED will bring about. Specifically, we are looking at whether monitoring frequencies of certain BAT-AEL emissions monitoring parameters could be reduced to lower the associated costs for all operators. Further information will be shared with all shredder operators in the coming weeks. In the meantime, contact Howard for further information.
