We spoke to three employees at EMR about their different roles in the business.

Name:  Michael Zwierzanski

Job title: Non Ferrous Weighbridge Operator

Time spent in metal recycling: 1 year


What does your job involve?
I weighing the vehicles carrying non-ferrous material in and out. I advise on quality and organise transport, book exports and report on the production of aluminium bales.

What is the hardest part of your job?
Maintaining the flow of traffic through a busy yard and ensuring operations are conducted in a timely manner.

A strong team, good management support and my radio!

What are you most proud of in your career?
Working with an excellent team.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
To always carry a magnet and a camera.

What does your job involve?
Weighing in and out, filling out paperwork and answering the phones

What is the hardest part of your job?
The yard is a very busy, dynamic working environment, sometimes we can have IT issues which slow us down.

What three things help you to do your job better?
I am very lucky to have a helpful manager, a good team around me and I have developed excellent relationships with the customers.

What are you most proud of in your career?
I remain calm in a busy working environment.

What is the best advice you have ever received?
Smile, it will be soon be Friday!

What one thing would we never guess about you?
My natural hair colour. I am a blonde but I have dyed it back.

Due to the nature of my role, I do a lot of travelling.

Knowledge and experience are really important when implementing Health and Safety across a number of sites. The company also committing to health and safety is a great advantage.

What are you most proud of in your career?

I am proud to keep people safe.
