Hours:             43.75 hrs/wk

S Norton & Co Ltd are proud to be one of the country's leading metal recycling companies.

We have opportunities within our busy and expanding maintenance departments in Liverpool and Manchester for experienced Mobile and Static Plant Maintenance Fitters.

The roles involve maintaining equipment and machinery in optimum operational condition. This includes heavy mobile plant and other relevant equipment used within the metal recycling industry or equivalent industries such as general waste handling, construction, and mining/quarrying

Key duties/responsibilities:

• The diagnosis and resolution of breakdowns
• Rapid response to breakdowns thereby minimising the period of downtime
• Conducting preventative/pro-active maintenance tasks
• Ensuring all machinery is maintained to a high standard 
• Conducting servicing on heavy mobile plant

• A flexible approach including the willingness to work outside normal hours as required
• The ability to manage tasks and meet deadlines
• An analytical, problem-solving approach 

Essential Skills

• Proven track record of working in a comparable role
• The ability to strip down and rebuild hydraulic, mechanical components on heavy machines
• Able to understand technical drawings relating to machinery
• A working knowledge of diesel engine maintenance
• NVQ level 3 or above in relevant subject
• Full driving licence

Desirable Skills

• The ability to weld metals of all types including heavy sections and assemblies
• ONC level qualifications or equivalent
• Competent at lifting and slinging
• Forklift truck licence
• MEWP/Cherry picker licence
