Members may be aware that BMRA has been in talks with Barclaycard to solve the issue of its non-acceptance of Mastercard. Despite the evidence that change is required now, Barclaycard has now confirmed it will not be updating its terminals until more banks move over to Mastercard. This is unlikely to happen within the next 12 months. However, while there is currently no like-for-like replacement that we are aware of, we do have a near-alternative in membership.

Given this update, and following the withdrawal of Tuxedo from the metals recycling sector, BMRA would like to remind members of the acceptable forms of payment under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 (SMDA) and the Air Weapons and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2015 (AWLA), and their associated supplementary guidance.
