Proceeds from raffle and auctions

BMRA is delighted to announce that it is supporting the Guide Dogs charity, after it was selected as its 2024 President’s Charity of the Year.

Each year the BMRA President selects a charity to be the recipient of the proceeds raised from the raffles and auctions held at the BMRA’s Golf Day and Annual Dinner each year.

Susie Burrage OBE, BMRA’s President said: “The annual selection of our charities gets tougher and tougher. There are so many worthy causes, but I am thrilled that we will supporting Guide Dogs in 2024.

“Many of us will have seen a guide dog working on the street, but maybe don’t appreciate the time and effort that goes into that dog becoming a companion that can transform the life of someone with sight loss.

“We would like to be part of that journey and this year we hope that we can raise enough money to help name and train one or two guide dogs, keeping up with their progress from birth throughout their first year of training.

“BMRA members are always extremely generous when supporting the wonderful causes we highlight each year, and I look forward to supporting Guide Dogs, now and in the future.”

Mandy Loveder, Community Fundraising Relationship Manager for Guide Dogs said, “We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone at BMRA for choosing us as its President’s Charity of the Year for 2024.

“It costs over £55,000 to support a guide dog from birth to retirement and Guide Dogs relies almost entirely on donations to keep its services for people with sight loss running.

“Our Name a Puppy scheme is a wonderful opportunity to be at the heart of a guide dog puppy's story.

“We look forward to being able to share the news of the arrival of the pup, or pups, named by BMRA.”
