Call for evidence

As a part of The Commission for Carbon Competitiveness' call for evidence – chaired by John Penrose MP – the BMRA has been invited to submit a response.

The Commission for Carbon Competitiveness is a cross-party and cross-industry effort to explore how the UK can reach Net Zero without undermining the competitiveness of British industry.

With regard to the call for evidence, the BMRA will help inform the Commission’s understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing energy intensive industries. They are particular interested to receive our views on the following:

  • The effects of ‘carbon leakage’ on UK industry.
  • The UK Emissions Trading Scheme (UK ETS).
  • Potential solutions to ‘carbon leakage’ including the role of Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanisms (CBAMs).

If you’d like to help the BMRA Secretariat with their response to this call for evidence, please submit your thoughts on the subject areas above to [email protected] by no later than close of business on Thursday 9 March.
