Wednesday 8 May 2024

The BMRA is pleased to announce that it has secured discounted access to an official Institute for the Motor Industry (IMI) Certified End of Life Electric and Hybrid Electric Vehicle Dismantling course, on Wednesday 8 May 2024.

The one-day course, delivered by Ken Byng of NA International/CarTakeBack under the ELEVATE brand, has been written specifically for ATFs to meet the forthcoming revised IMI National Occupational Standards for Dismantlers and covers everything an ATF needs to understand to be able to safely handle electric end of life vehicles (eELVs) at their end of life.

The course covers all types of eELV including battery-only ELV and hybrid ELV, and on successful completion candidates will be awarded an IMI Personal Development Certificate. The day sets out the risks involved in handling and making safe eELV ready for depollution and how to manage these risks and demonstrates the associated correct processes and procedures including isolation, disconnection, testing and how to safely remove and store the battery and other key components.

The one-day course will be delivered at BMRA Huntingdon office in a classroom setting and will cost £400 plus VAT per person (including an official IMI digital and hard copy Personal Development Certificate). If you are interested in attending the eELV course, please contact us on [email protected] specifying the number of people attending.

Alternatively, members can also elect to have a two-day theory/practical IMI Accredited course delivered onsite if required. Places at these courses will be strictly limited. Those operators who choose to host an on-location course, will be responsible for providing all necessary equipment and a suitable vehicle(s). BMRA can advise as to equipment required in advance of the course. For further details, please contact [email protected]
