BMRA members bask in the sunshine at Gleneagles

The BMRA Golf Day and Summer Dinner 2026, celebrating 25 years as a united Association, was blessed with glorious weather as 21 teams teed off on the world-renowned PGA Centenary Course at Gleneagles.

As with all Golf Days, proceedings began with the Annual General Meeting, hosted by CEO James Kelly and BMRA President Susie Burrage OBE, who provided an overview of the work undertaken by the Secretariat over the past 12 months.

BMRA also officially welcomed new Board members Peter Hyams (APM Metals), Sue Howell (Wye Valley Metals), and Harry Seale (Javelin Global Commodities). Special recognition was given to Vice-President, Past President and board member, Shane Mellor (Mellor Metals), Past President and board member, Graham Davy (Intelligent Lifecycle Solutions Limited), and Technical Director, Howard Bluck, for their many years of service to the Association.

Set amongst rolling hills and scenic Perthshire countryside, the course did not disappoint, offering both a rewarding challenge and a fantastic atmosphere for a well-supported golf day north of the border.

Players competed in a Stableford format, with some impressive performances across the field.

The evening began in the elegant Ochil House, before guests were piped into the ballroom to enjoy a delicious three-course dinner, where prizes for the day’s competition were presented.

Before dinner commenced, Susie Burrage OBE led a toast to honour the previous 25 years of the BMRA.

Congratulations go to Team Enicor - James Bowers, Andrew Petrie, Alexander Broadberry and George Murfin - who scored 98 points to take top honours. Notable performances also came from runners-up Team Morris & Co Handlers - Daniel Morris, Joe Morrison, Paul Morris and Joe Watts - who scored 94 points, and Team Benfleet Scrap and Connolley Metals - Leo Leeman, Richard Leeman, Sam West and Sonny Connolley - who finished with 93 points.

Other winners included Charlie Seale (Javelin Global Commodities), who took the individual title with 48 points; Sam West (Team Benfleet Scrap and Connolley Metals), who won Longest Drive with an exceptional shot; and Brian Clarke (HW Comery), who claimed Nearest the Pin.

HW Comery’s team were awarded the light-hearted accolade of finishing in last place.

The evening continued with an auction, where JMC Recycling generously donated blades for a McIntyre alligator shear, raising £950, followed by the raffle. In total, £3,550 was raised for the 2026 President’s charity, Children with Cancer UK, with further fundraising to come at the Annual Dinner in November.

Entertainment was provided by Joe Yates, who got even the most reluctant participant up to dance.
