On Friday 4 July, BMRA’s Golf Day and Summer Dinner took place at the picturesque Celtic Manor Resort & Spa in Newport, Wales. It was the second time that the venue had played host to BMRA members, and was the perfect warm up to next year, celebrating the BMRA’s 25 year anniversary at Gleneagles.

As has been customary for several years now, BMRA’s AGM preceded the golf. This year, two new board members were elected: Ashish Chaudhari of Global Ardour Recycling Ltd and Tony Hayer of S. Norton Group.

21 teams took to the Roman Road course to compete for several prizes including the team competition, highest individual score, nearest to the pin and the longest drive.

As the teams re-entered the clubhouse, reports were that the weather was perfect, the greens super quick, and the all-important 19^th hole drink was needed!

At the evening’s Summer Dinner, BMRA’s President, Susie Burrage OBE, and BMRA’s Vice-President, Shane Mellor took to the stage to present the golf prizes. The team from Avon Metals, much to their surprise, scooped the team competition and Harry Dodds from Unimetals Recycling took home the individual prize. The longest drive was awarded to Sean Morris of EMR, whilst the nearest the pin was won by Leigh Edwards of Wye Valley Metals.

The President and Vice-President also hosted the raffle, which raised £1,670 for the Stroke Association, the President’s Charity for 2025. Thank you to our generous members who donated prizes and who took part in the raffle.
