YBMR Rising Star 2025

Charlotte receiving her award from YBMR co-chair, Hayley Mellor and BMRA President, Susie Burrage OBE

As prepared by fellow YBMR member, Craig Walsh of Tradmet

Charlotte, an Area Trader for Cronimet GB is a dedicated, hardworking, intuitive and driven young woman.

Entering into a male dominated industry has not phased her over the past seven or so years. Proving that women can earn the same respect as a man that has being doing the job 20+ years.

After leaving ELG she embarked on a journey with Cronimet. Since joining, Charlotte has upped Cronimet’s tonnages of nickel-based products, developed new relationships, and cemented existing ones.

Being on the board for Women in Recycling shows that Charlotte is a well-respected figure in the industry. A role model for any woman wanting to get into the recycling industry, not just for metal but other commodities too.

Although Charlotte is well-established in the industry, the sky is the limit and I am confident she will continue to be a rising star and break new ground as she climbs the ladder.

Of her award, Charlotte said: “I am truly honoured to accept the British Metals Recycling Association YBMR Rising Star of the Year for the scrap metal recycling industry. When I first joined the scrap industry back in 2022, I never imagined one day I would be stood up in a room, on stage, being recognised and celebrated for my work. I had no idea how much this career would challenge me, teach me and inspire me. What we do isn’t always glamorous, but it matters! This award isn’t just about what I’ve done so far; it’s a reminder of the responsibility and opportunity that lies for me ahead and what comes next. This one’s for the girls this year.”
