Recycling and metal processing at the forefront on Global Recycling Day

This Global Recycling Day (18 March), BMRA service member Danieli Centro Recycling, based in Rotherham, is joining forces with local school, Wales High School, taking part in a litter picking and sorting session.

Danieli Centro Recycling want to bring recycling to the forefront within the local community, and encourage more young minds to think about the problems the world is facing and the things we can all do on a daily basis to help by being #RECYCLINGHEROES!

Some of the Danieli Centro Recycling Team will be working with a group of 30 children, from Years 7-9 at the school, in the morning of the 18th, picking litter around the school and local area. They will then sort the rubbish into recyclable and non-recyclable, sorting the recyclable waste further into groups, ferrous and non-ferrous metal, paper/card and recyclable plastics. The material will be taken to the appropriate recycling points, and ensure that the non-recyclable waste is disposed of responsibly.

In the afternoon another group of pupils, from Years 10 and 12, will visit Danieli Centro Recycling for an ‘Engineering in Action’ session, where they will receive a demonstration on AutoCad design software and the opportunity to have a go themselve. They will watch presentations on recycling and steel making, and Danieli’s ‘Green Steel’ philosophy, and carry out some scrap sorting with a Danieli engineer.

Danieli Centro Recycling will give everyone taking part a t-shirt and branded re-usable water bottles.
