The committee of BMRA’s Young British Metals Recyclers (YBMR) is delighted to announce that its new co-chair is Charlotte Robinson of Cronimet (pictured on the left with Hayley Mellor and BMRA President, Susie Burrage OBE).

She will join current co-chair, Hayley Mellor of Mellor Metals, at the helm of the YBMR committee, assisting the BMRA Secretariat in planning future events and activities.

Charlotte was named YBMR’s Rising Star in 2025, an award that celebrates younger professionals who have made a significant contribution to their organisation, inspired their colleagues, and demonstrated excellence in their field.

Charlotte said of her appointment: “It is a real honour to accept the role of co-chair of YBMR. I am incredibly grateful to everyone who voted for and supported me - your confidence in me means a great deal.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of the committee so far and have valued the opportunity to work alongside such passionate and dedicated people. I very much look forward to helping shape the future of the scrap industry for young people and contributing to the exciting opportunities ahead.

“Thank you once again for your support and I can't wait to get stuck in!”

Hayler Mellor added: “I'm delighted to welcome Charlotte as my new co-chair of YBMR. Together, alongside our fantastic committee, I'm excited to build on the excellent work already underway and create even more opportunities for young professionals across the metals recycling industry.

“I'm looking forward to working closely with Charlotte as we continue to grow YBMR, encourage collaboration, and inspire the next generation of industry leaders.”

YBMR is a BMRA initiative designed for employees 40 and under working in the UK metals recycling industry. It supports professional development through training, educational events, industry visits, and networking opportunities. YBMR helps members build knowledge of the wider recycling and metallurgy sectors, develop relationships with peers, and enhance their career prospects.

Activities have included tours of major industry facilities and exposure to key market organisations such as the London Metal Exchange. Open to staff across all job roles, YBMR encourages engagement, collaboration, and the development of future leaders within the metals recycling sector.
