An exciting opportunity has arisen for two medium metal recycling companies in BMRA ordinary membership to have a full greenhouse gas protocol emissions assessment by a consultancy part-funded, as part of BMRA's Net Zero Strategy.

These assessments will feed into BMRA’s Net Zero Strategy forming a sample of metal recycling companies from which the consultancy will extrapolate into a sector-wide figure.

The strategy will then use those figures to go onto produce decarbonisation pathways for differing types of metal recycler (small, medium and large). It will also continue to promote the environmental benefit of metal recycling and using recycled product.

For this project, a medium business is more than 50 employees, but less than 250 and a turnover over £10 million but under £50 million.

It would be beneficial, but not essential, that your company has begun carbon footprinting and has consequently begun collecting data on at least scope 1 and/or scope 2 emissions.

If you fulfil this criteria, and would like to take part, BMRA is asking for a reduced fee of £1,250 + VAT (normally £4000 + VAT), which will enable the company to receive a full carbon assessment.

Please note that any company choosing to participate has the option to remain anonymous throughout the process with their findings also used anonymously within the report. But, by agreeing to take part, you are accepting that the findings even if anonymous will be used in the report.

Please do contact your Carbon Action Committee lead Cameron Leitch to discuss this opportunity further, or to sign up to take part. This can be done via email [email protected] or by telephone: 07487 545037.
