With a plethora of exciting features, practical demonstrations and expert speakers, the organisers have provided a sneak preview of what’s in store at the 2020 event.

On first look, one of the most notable changes from previous editions is the date. This year, MRE will take place on the earlier dates of 03 & 04 June 2020, while the show remains at Stoneleigh Park near Coventry for a second time. Space for both indoor and outdoor exhibits has been increased as well as a brand new area for live equipment demonstrations.

SPEAKER PROGRAMME

An early preview of the speaker programme has been announced revealing some of the expert speakers and panellists who will be addressing visitors across the two onsite conference theatres. At the start of a new decade the agenda has both a reflective and forward thinking feel tackling current challenges and future opportunities.

To provide an update from a regulatory perspective, Malcolm Lythgo, head of waste regulation at the Environment Agency will address the event, and the broad programme will cover a host of practical topics relevant to the modern day recycler. This includes a fascinating session on safe processing and end markets for batteries, WEEE & ELV derived plastics.

Speakers are currently being invited for a panel session which looks to tackle the problem of illegal operators and metal theft, while another session has been dedicated to addressing issues around fire protection and prevention.

In one of the more business focussed sessions, presenters from employment specialist Croner will provide an overview of the ‘Good Work Plan’ which comes into legislation in April. Mental health charity SPEAK will provide a case study of their work undertaken with metal recycler Binn Group, providing internal support and communication to help improve the wellbeing of their employees.

DEMONSTRATIONS

A key feature of MRE is its live demonstrations. Visitors will see machinery and equipment put through its paces processing metal and end of life vehicles. Blue Group and E H Hassells & Sons will be demonstrating their respective Fuchs and Sennebogen material handlers, while Lefort, Doyle Machinery and JMC Recycling will running their balers and shredders. SB Recycling Machinery will be also be operating their range of Butti Sweepers.

HEADLINES

As a reflection of the event’s consistent growth and expansion, 2020 has seen a number of businesses choose to align themselves as a headline partner of the event. These businesses are Blue Group, Lefort and JMC Recycling.

Speaking ahead of the event, Dave Chapman, Sales Director for Lefort said, “Lefort are delighted to be a headline partner at this year’s Metals Recycling Event. We’ve exhibited at each event since its inception in 2016 and are pleased to have increased our presence year on year. We can’t wait for the show in June, where we’ll be putting one of our car balers through its paces in the live demonstration area.”
