BMRA member, Ward, has acquired four new sites to increase its metal processing and waste management capabilities nationally, supporting its ambitious growth plans.
The new sites at Nottingham, Castleford, Barnsley and Huddersfield will expand the portfolio of the independently owned, family business to 12 sites across the UK. Others include Chesterfield, Swadlincote, York, with multiple processing facilities and an Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) at Ilkeston and a metal export operation at Cardiff port.
Thomas Ward, Commercial Director at Ward said: “This is an exciting time to be part of Ward as we develop and grow. The metal recycling industry is going through a huge period of transformation and bringing these new sites into the Ward family represents a major opportunity.
“We have recruited more than 100 new staff to complement our existing team who bring a diverse range of experience and a good mix of skill sets. As a business, we’ve never been in better shape to embrace these changes, increasing our network to recycle more material and better serve our customers.”
Ward processes more than 1million tonnes of scrap ferrous and non-ferrous metal annually and exports to customers globally including Turkey, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and China. The firm is forging ahead with plans to expand its network of scrap suppliers feeding its nationwide sites and increasing tonnages of metals for processing and onward export to customers around the world.
With Nottingham, Barnsley and Castleford already fully operational, the fourth new site at Huddersfield will follow in the coming months.
