Recent feedback from the Environment Agency (EA) and certain members indicates possible inconsistencies in how the sector classifies, codes, and reports waste. Increasingly, the EA appears to treat misclassification not as an administrative error but as misdescription and a failure of the duty of care. Members are therefore reminded that accurate coding and documented waste acceptance procedures are essential to demonstrate compliance with permit conditions and hazardous waste legislation.
