The YBMR Secretariat has organised a visit to the AMRC Factory 2050 (Sheffield – postcode S9 1ZA) on Thursday 23rd February at 10:15. This event will be free of charge. However, places are limited so they will be secured on a first-come-first-serve basis.

For those that do not know, the AMRC Factory 2050 is the UK’s first state of the art factory, entirely dedicated to conducting collaborative research into reconfigurable digitally assisted assembly, component manufacturing and machining technologies and is capable of rapidly switching production between different high-value components and one-off parts.

Factory 2050 is the first building to be completed on the University of Sheffield’s new Advanced Manufacturing Campus. The 6,730 sq m landmark circular glass building and rectangular extension is home to the AMRC’s Integrated Manufacturing Group (IMG).

This is an exciting opportunity to see the cutting edge of British manufacturing. What’s going on in Factory 2050, will materially affect the material that is recycled in 20 years’ time. The tour provided by AMRC will take approximately 1hr 30 minutes and afterwards YBMR attendees will have an option to come to a group lunch (paid for by attendees and details to be confirmed), or head straight home.

If you’d like to attend this trip, please reserve your space, including whether you’d like to attend the lunch meal with Cameron at [email protected]. Equally, please email Cameron if require more information before making a reservation.
