Member input needed
BMRA is aware that members are increasingly being asked to evidence the carbon benefit of recycled metal to downstream customers, particularly in construction, automotive, packaging and infrastructure, where Scope 3 reporting and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are now routine.
Knowing the carbon saving from recycled material compared to virgin material has real commercial and reporting values, we're building a comparator tool and guidance to demonstrate this benefit for ferrous, aluminium and copper.
To do this accurately, we need to understand how your recycled non-ferrous volumes split between aluminium, copper and other non-ferrous metals. We'd be grateful if you could complete a short, anonymous survey, which covers:
- The split, by tonnage, of the non-ferrous metals you processed in your most recent full reporting year
- The types of aluminium and copper streams you typically handle.
We're working with Climate Action for Associations (CAFA) to deliver this work. CAFA is the resource and network dedicated to sustainability in the membership sector. They bring extensive expertise in association-led, industry-specific programme design, sector frameworks and action plans, and sector-specific research, resources and tools.
Please use this link https://cafasurveys.org/bmra/survey/metals to complete the survey. It should only take you 2 minutes.
If you run into any issues or would like to discuss the information being requested in more detail, contact [email protected].
We appreciate this is a tight turnaround, but we aim to complete this work by Friday 16 October, so we are grateful if you can take a moment to participate as your input will ultimately enable us to develop a tool that will benefit the entire sector.
We'll also be running focus group and feedback sessions for members who'd like to be more involved. If you're interested, please include your details at the end of the survey.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch: [email protected].
