YBMR is pleased to announce it has organised a visit to the Materials Processing Institute (MPI), taking place on Tuesday 21 April at 10am.

The MPI is a not-for-profit research and innovation centre with a 75-year track record in developing new materials, processes and technologies. It based in Middlesborough and is located at: Eston Road, Middlesbrough, TS6 6US, United Kingdom.

YBMR will be visiting MPI's Normanton Plant, which is a facility capable of melting and casting various metals and alloys, primarily steel alloys. The primary function is the production of quality steel for research and development projects as well commercial quality ingots and continuous cast billets and slabs. Assay melting of clients scrap and revert melting of highly alloyed metals using electric arc and induction melting furnaces is also carried out.

MPI have recently upgraded their electric arc furnace and the first melt was completed a couple of weeks ago.
